Graphic Design Office Assistant
Our ideal candidate will be eager to learn about career development and gain real-world experience using their graphic design skills to help market Career Services.
The day-to-day:
● Designing (45%): You’ll use Adobe Creative Cloud to create print and digital marketing material such as social media content, brochures, fliers, and web design elements.
● Office Assistance (30%):
- Answering and directing phone calls
- Maintaining Handshake (U of M’s online job and internship posting system)
- Assistance designing presentations and other documents that go out to a public audience
- Researching and analyzing information to help staff prepare for meetings and presentations
- Scheduling interview center reservations
- Supporting on-campus interviews by welcoming employers and checking-in students
- Office organization
- Misc projects as assigned - typically administrative and organizational tasks, data management, website maintenance, and educational outreach (based on the candidates skills and interests)
● Website management (15%): You’ll be helping maintain multiple websites for our department. We’re looking for creative insight and a detailed eye for copy-editing.
● Video Editing (10%): This position may require assisting in video production and editing of educational and promotional content.
Qualifications:
● A current University of Minnesota student. See student employment eligibility. Work study funding is preferred, but not required.
● Able to work a set schedule of 8-12 hrs a week during the full academic year.
● Strong graphic design skills. (Self-taught or learned in a classroom)
● Able to both take direction and drive projects.
● A team player with a service oriented mindset.
● Organized.
● Detail oriented - comfortable copy editing.
● PLUS: Interest and skill in social media strategy and creation.
● PLUS: HTML coding knowledge.
● PLUS: Interested and able to work more than one academic year.

Work Hours
This is an in-person position. Hours will be scheduled between Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM, 8-12+ hours per week. We provide a set schedule for each semester and work around class schedules.
