Surveillance Specialist
Surveillance Specialists conduct fixed surveillance duties that support Foreign Counterintelligence and/or Counterterrorism investigations, and gather intelligence information of investigative interest. Surveillance Specialists utilize various communications, photographic, and technical equipment during surveillance operations. Incumbents are responsible for all aspects of surveillance operations from planning through execution.
SALARY RANGE: Base Pay $37,301 - $59,316/ Per Year + Locality Pay
SERIES & GRADE: GS-1801-07/09
POSITION INFORMATION: Permanent, Full-Time
PROMOTIONAL POTENTIAL: GS-11
DUTY LOCATIONS: MANY Vacancies–Location determined by the needs of the FBI

QUALIFICATIONS:
GS 7: Experience is performing analytical duties directly related to the collection and evaluation of information.
GS 9: Experience is performing investigative, surveillance, technical and/or analytical duties directly related to the collection and evaluation of intelligence information.
Education may be substituted for specialized experience as described below:
GS 7: Bachelor's degree with overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
GS 9: Master's or equivalent graduate, e.g. LL.B or J.D.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be willing and medically able to accept assignments indoors, outdoors, and in all types of weather conditions and situations.
2. Must be available and willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, odd hours and extended shifts as necessary.
3. Must have a valid driver's license.
4. Must sign a two-year service agreement, effective with assignment to a Surveillance Specialist position, which requires staying in the Program for a period of 2 years.
5. Must pass a US government physical examination.
6. The applicant's past medical history will also be reviewed for any possible significant medical conditions which could preclude or limit the applicant's ability to fulfill the requirements of the position such as seizure disorder, uncontrolled diabetes (with or without insulin dependency), cardiac problems, active communicable diseases, certain pulmonary disease or psychiatric psychological disorder.
7. The applicant must have 20/20 corrected vision in one eye, not worse than 20/40 in the other and must pass a color vision and hearing test. The applicant's medical suitability will be subject to approval by the FBI's Chief Medical Officer.
8. Selectees must successfully complete an EIGHT WEEK training class. Failure to successfully complete this class may result in a dismissal, demotion and/or placement into another support position.
